Ending Violence Against Black Girls + Women

Multi-Communities is a nonprofit organization committed to mobilizing community members to end domestic and gender-based violence against Black girls and women, and to provide Seattle’s Black community with culturally specific resources for safer and healthier relationships. We utilize a team approach to respond to violence and abuse, centering leadership, prevention education, and collective healing in all of our programming.

Supporting Survivors

Multi-Communities provides compassionate, culturally responsive advocacy and case management services for survivors navigating crisis, violence, and systemic barriers.

Our team works alongside individuals and families to help them access safety, stability, and healing through personalized support, safety planning, resource navigation, and direct advocacy.

We also connect survivors to trusted community resources, including legal assistance, housing support, mental health services, healthcare, and financial assistance programs. In addition to one-on-one support, we offer support groups and community healing spaces that foster connection, empowerment, and collective care.

Adapting Violence Prevention Curriculum to Serve a Greater Diversity of Community Members

We customize existing violence prevention curriculum to meet the specific needs of each target audience we work with, including faith leaders, Black women, men, youth, seniors, and refugees. Our education programming focuses on mobilizing community members with the right tools to reduce cycles of violence in their lives and communities.

Building a Resilient Network of Black Leaders Committed to Prevention

Multi-Communities works to build a network of Black leaders, trained to respond to survivors of intimate violence, to build safer and healthier relationships and expand resources for survivors. We work to expand and strengthen partnerships with churches, community-based organizations, and schools to create a resilient network of Black leaders committed to preventing domestic and gender-based violence.

Facilitating Celebration and Collective Healing in the Black Community

We believe coming together as a community to celebrate and heal is an overlooked aspect of gender-based violence and trauma prevention. Gatherings - whether in-person or online - celebrate and elevate our collective power, shape healthy norms, and provide opportunities for sharing resources and experiences.
